ACEH | AswinNews.com –The Santri Community (KOMAS), in collaboration with the Gontor Family Association in Aceh (IKPM Gontor Aceh), has distributed humanitarian assistance to communities affected by floods and landslides across several regions in Aceh Province. The initiative aims to meet urgent basic needs while restoring communication access in disaster-hit and hard-to-reach areas.
Secretary General of KOMAS, Baharuddin Harahap, praised the humanitarian movement carried out by KOMAS and IKPM Gontor Aceh, describing it as a moral and social responsibility.
“The distribution of aid by KOMAS and IKPM Gontor Aceh for victims of floods and landslides in Aceh is a form of obligation and genuine concern for humanity,” Baharuddin Harahap stated on Wednesday (24/12/2025).
He emphasized that disaster response efforts are an integral part of KOMAS’ long-term vision as a student-based organization committed to community empowerment, particularly in the social, educational, and economic sectors, while upholding Islamic boarding school (santri) values.
“We are not present merely as observers, but as agents of change who bring real and concrete solutions to problems faced by society,” he added.
Three Key Locations of Aid Distribution, The humanitarian assistance was distributed to three priority locations:
- 1. Blang Awe Village, Meureudu Subdistrict, Pidie Jaya Regency – distribution of basic food supplies and cooking utensils.
- 2. Lhok Village, Meureudu Subdistrict, Pidie Jaya Regency – provision of communal kitchen supplies to support affected families.
- 3. Binjai Village, Kejuruan Muda Subdistrict, Aceh Tamiang Regency – distribution of basic necessities and the deployment of Starlink satellite communication devices to restore communication access that had been completely disrupted.
The relief mission was directly led by Ustadz Muzakkir Husein and Ustadz Mahyudin, who served as field coordinators.
Ustadz Muzakkir Husein stated that the mission went beyond symbolic support.
“We do not come only with prayers, but also with real solutions to meet the urgent needs of residents in the field,” he said.
Baharuddin Harahap further explained that the collaboration between KOMAS and IKPM Gontor Aceh is expected to help ease the burden of disaster victims while accelerating socioeconomic recovery in affected areas.
“With the spirit of mutual cooperation, KOMAS remains committed to accompanying the people of Aceh through sustainable empowerment programs that align with the values of education, independence, and the santri spirit,” Baharuddin concluded. [ ]
