MALANG – ASWINEWS.COM — In support of the national food security program, the Village Government of Jombok, Ngantang Subdistrict, Malang Regency, in collaboration with local farmer groups, organized a two-day Basic Organic Farming and Livestock Training. The event, held on Saturday and Sunday, culminated on Sunday (July 27, 2025), at the Jombok Village Hall.
Carrying the theme: “Basic Organic Farming and Livestock Training to Support the Food Security Program,” the training featured a dedicated husband-and-wife team from Jombang, Imam and Wanti, both of whom are well-known educators, motivators, and mentors in the field of agriculture and animal husbandry.
“This training aims to enhance farmers’ and breeders’ understanding of modern agricultural and livestock techniques, supported by structured management to achieve maximum productivity,” Imam said during his presentation.
He explained that the initiative stemmed from concern over the condition of elderly farmers who often lack access to education or innovation in their practices. However, the enthusiasm of the participants signaled a strong desire for progress.
“We saw genuine excitement on their faces. There’s hope for real change through the right knowledge. It could lift their lives toward a better future,” he added.
The session also introduced a special organic formula developed by a late Indonesian hydrology professor who passed away in 2010. The formula, according to Imam, remains one of the most effective technologies for farming and livestock today.
“We’re confident in this formula. Although we didn’t conduct field practice this time, I believe the participants—being practitioners—can apply it right away,” he explained.
One of the attendees, Arif, expressed great enthusiasm and actively participated in the discussion. He appreciated the practical insights and found the training highly beneficial.
The idea for the training originated from Sulaksono Widodo, also known as Bang Soni, a local community leader from Dawung Hamlet and a member of the Rahayu 2 Farmer Group.

“It started as a personal initiative. I brought it up during a village meeting and fortunately the Jombok Village Government approved it. Although we only had two days and couldn’t include hands-on practice, I believe our fellow farmers can still absorb the knowledge effectively,” he said.
Bang Soni hopes this will become a pilot project for West Malang and eventually expand across Malang Regency.
“Our goal is to empower farmers and breeders here to become more advanced and knowledgeable—whether they’re tending crops or raising livestock with two legs, four legs, or none at all,” he concluded with a smile.
