Jakarta, AswinNews.com — Garin Nugroho’s latest film titled Nyanyian Sunyi Dalam Rantang (Whispers in the Dabbas) officially held its national premiere on Friday, May 9, 2025, at CGV Grand Indonesia. This screening is part of the commemoration of World Anti-Corruption Day, as well as the third screening after premiering at the 54th International Film Festival Rotterdam and the previous limited session.
The gala premiere was also attended by important figures from state institutions and civil society, such as KPK Chairman Setyo Budianto, KPK Deputy Chairman Agus Joko Pramono, Deputy KSP M. Qodari, as well as representatives from GIZ, Stranas PK, and various other agencies. The presence of Garin Nugroho, main actress Della Dartyan, and producer Rina Damayanti added to the excitement of the evening’s event.
Composed through a collaboration between Garin Workshop, Padi Padi Creative, and Stranas PK, this film voices sharp criticism of unequal legal practices in Indonesia. Inspired by four true stories, Nyanyian Sunyi Dalam Rantang highlights the fate of the common people who are victims of collusion between the state and corporations. The central character Puspa (Della Dartyan) is depicted defending victims of injustice, from a grandmother accused of stealing cocoa beans to farmers and activists who face persecution for rejecting illegal shrimp ponds.

“This film is a bitter representation of how corruption robs not only state money, but also farmers’ land, access to justice, and public trust,” said KPK Chairman Setyo Budianto in his speech.
As part of the campaign to prevent corruption and educate the public, the film will also conduct a roadshow to various cities such as Jayapura, Sorong, Manokwari, and Yogyakarta. This series of activities is supported by Stranas PK and GIZ CPFS as part of the national strategy to eradicate corruption 2025–2026.
“Film is an open and critical medium of expression. It always finds its echo, especially when it voices marginalized voices,” said Garin Nugroho closing the screening night.
