Meranti Police Chief AKBP Aldi Alfa Faroqi Leads Karhutla Fun Run 5K Directly
MERANTI – ASWINNEWS.COM – Meranti Islands Police Chief, AKBP Aldi Alfa Faroqi, S.H., S.I.K., M.H., led the Karhutla Fun Run 5K directly which was held simultaneously throughout Riau, Sunday (13/4/2025). The activity which was centered on Jalan Pramuka, Selatpanjang was not only lively with the participation of hundreds of participants, but was also full of educational messages and a spirit of togetherness.
With the theme “Protecting Nature, Protecting Togetherness – Protecting Good Fortune, Protecting Dignity”, the Karhutla Fun Run 5K in the Meranti Islands is a strong symbol of collaboration between agencies and the community in preventing forest and land fires (karhutla) which have been a serious concern in Riau Province.
“This activity is not just a sport, but part of our strategy in spreading the spirit of caring for the environment, especially regarding preventing forest and land fires in the Meranti Islands region,” said the Chief of Police, AKBP Aldi Alfa Faroqi in his speech.
He said that the Karhutla Fun Run is an educational innovation that is packaged in a light and fun way, but still reaches all groups – from students, ASN, communities, to the general public.
“We want to convey that protecting the environment is not just the task of some parties. This is a shared responsibility. Through activities like this, we build that awareness collectively,” he said.
Also present and officially releasing the participants were the Deputy Regent of the Meranti Islands Muzamil Baharudin, S.M., M.M., Kajari Febriyan, S.H., M.H., Chairman of the DPRD Khalid Ali, and other Forkopimda elements, including Danramil 02 Tebingtinggi and Danpos AL Selatpanjang.
The activity became more meaningful with the symbolic planting of tree seedlings by all Forkopimda officials, including the Police Chief and the Meranti Islands Branch Bhayangkari, as a real form of concern for the environment and the preservation of green ecosystems.
The Head of the Meranti Islands Branch Bhayangkari, Mrs. Esti Aldi Alfa, was also present to accompany her husband in supporting the success of the activity which was enthusiastically welcomed by hundreds of residents from various circles.
AKBP Aldi hopes that activities like this can be a momentum for the formation of an environmentally conscious culture, as well as erasing the bad stigma of forest and land fires in Riau. “We want Meranti to be known not because its land is burning, but because its people care and are active in protecting the environment,” he concluded.
