Adhya Pictures, in collaboration with Dapur Film, officially announced their latest film titled BOLONG: 309 Days Before the Bloody Tragedy during a press conference held at Tengah People & Place, Palmerah, West Jakarta, on Friday (November 21, 2025).
This film marks the latest work of renowned director Hanung Bramantyo, who once again presents a mystery story infused with historical nuances and distinctive Indonesian mystical elements.
BOLONG: 309 Days Before the Bloody Tragedy is scheduled to hold its world premiere at the International Film Festival Rotterdam in February 2026. This will be Hanung Bramantyo’s second film to premiere at the festival, following the success of Gowok: Kamasutra Jawa.
Set in the Lubang Buaya area during the 1960s, the film tells a mysterious story of a series of murders following an identical pattern. The victims are always found dead on the 30th of every month, with a large hole in their bodies and terrifying messages written on their faces.

Inspired by various theories and narratives surrounding the September 30th Movement (G30S), the film does not aim to retell history, but instead builds a new fictional story rooted in folklore and the collective imagination shaped by the historical event.
“This film is not merely an exploration of Indonesia’s dark history. I want to show how rumors, mystical stories, and folklore can easily spread and shape the public’s way of thinking,” said Hanung Bramantyo.
The film features an impressive cast, including Baskara Mahendra, Carissa Perusset, Khiva Iskak, and Anya Zen.
Carissa Perusset, who plays one of the central characters, shared her challenges in portraying the role.
“The character I play has very intense psychological complexity. This role will make the audience constantly question what is really happening behind everything,” she said.
In addition to the press conference, the production team also presented an exclusive first-look teaser during the event. The film is scheduled to be released in Indonesian cinemas in 2026.
