Aceng Syamsul Hadie, S.Sos., MM, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the DPP ASWIN (International Association of Journalists), has strongly condemned the Gaza-Palestinian genocide, calling it “a massive and ruthless business project run by transnational corporations without conscience.”
This statement follows the recent revelation by Francesca Albanese, the UN Special Rapporteur for the Occupied Palestinian Territories, who released a report listing dozens of global companies allegedly profiting from what she described as the “Israeli Genocide Economy.”
“The genocide in Gaza is not only a war crime but also a multi-billion dollar project driven by inhumane global corporations. These companies operate across borders with no regard for morality or international law,” said Aceng in Jakarta.
Aceng elaborated that companies from sectors including military, technology, finance, energy, agriculture, and settlements have been complicit in enabling Israel’s aggression and occupation. Prominent names mentioned in the UN report include Amazon, Caterpillar, Lockheed Martin, Volvo Group, among others.
“Since October 7, 2023, more than 57,112 Palestinians have been killed, 134,592 injured, and 225 journalists lost their lives, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry,” said Aceng.
“Meanwhile, these corporations profit shamelessly over the ruins, bloodshed, and corpses of innocent civilians.”
Francesca Albanese’s report claims Israel used Gaza as a live testing ground for weapons systems, and that 48 companies have profited from the ongoing conflict through the provision of arms, surveillance tools, cloud infrastructure, and financial backing.
The report lists companies across several sectors:
Aceng concluded with a strong call for international action:
“We urge all UN member states to immediately enforce a comprehensive arms embargo on Israel, suspend all trade and investment relations, and hold these corporations accountable under international law.”
He also called on international media and journalist communities to remain vigilant, as the death toll among media workers continues to rise at unprecedented levels.
“This is not just about delayed justice—it’s about preventing corporate-driven genocide from becoming a normalized business model,” he stressed.
