Renowned Indonesian director Kamila Andini has officially been invited to become a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), the prestigious organization widely known as the host of the Academy Awards (Oscars). The announcement was made by Forka Films on Thursday, June 27, 2025.

As the key creative partner of Forka Films, Kamila has long been known for delivering cinematic stories deeply rooted in Indonesian culture yet speaking to universal audiences. Her films consistently highlight narratives about women, indigenous communities, and the younger generation, with strong social sensitivity and a distinctive visual style.

“Becoming part of the Academy is not just a personal achievement, but also a significant step to bring the stories of Indonesian women to the global stage,” Kamila Andini said.

Forka Films CEO Ifa Isfansyah added, “Kamila Andini’s selection as an Academy member is a major milestone, not only for her but also for Indonesian and Southeast Asian cinema. We believe her involvement will bring fresh perspectives from Asia to the global film landscape.”
