Chairman of the Companion Development Policy Network (Jaringan Pendamping Kebijakan Pembangunan, JPKP), Maret Samuel Sueken, appeared at the Metro Jaya Regional Police Headquarters on Tuesday to follow up on a report he previously filed concerning the spread of misinformation about President Joko Widodo’s educational background.
“I received a summons from the Metro Jaya Police for further clarification regarding the report I filed under Police Report No: LP/B/976/V/2025/SPKT. Sat Reskrim/Restro Bks Kota/Polda Metro Jaya dated May 5, 2025,” Samuel stated.
During the questioning, Samuel submitted evidence including news links and videos that, he claims, support his stance. “We explained to investigators that President Jokowi’s diploma is genuine, aligning with the results of forensic examination conducted by the National Police’s Scientific Crime Investigation (SCI) unit,” he said.

Samuel also issued a pointed message to those who continue to question the findings:
“If there are individuals who no longer trust the conclusions of our national forensic laboratories and instead put more faith in foreign entities, I suggest they consider renouncing their citizenship. We need national unity, not disruption,” he asserted.
He emphasized that the widespread rumors of a “fake diploma” have created unnecessary divisions in society—even becoming a topic among street vendors and children in schools. “This propaganda has been vicious and destructive,” he lamented.

According to Samuel, continued attempts to discredit Jokowi stem not from evidence but from deep political resentment. “Those who lost in the presidential election, those whose organizations like FPI and HTI were dissolved, and vested interests such as oil, mining, and land mafias are all upset. They failed to undermine Jokowi’s administration, and now they resort to smear campaigns.”
He noted that many of Jokowi’s controversial decisions—such as reclaiming national control over oil and mining assets, expelling illegal foreign fishing vessels, advancing infrastructure, and implementing equal pricing for basic goods across the archipelago—have contributed to the backlash.
However, instead of turning the public against Jokowi, Samuel claims these efforts have only deepened people’s admiration for the former president.
“In fact, the people’s love for Jokowi is reflected in the growing number of visitors to Solo, his hometown. They come from all over Indonesia just to meet or take photos with him—even after his presidency has ended,” Samuel explained. “Time, energy, emotions, family sacrifices, even money—they’re willing to spend it just to be near him. That is the real proof of public affection.”
He concluded by asserting that Indonesia’s current trajectory—from infrastructure development to digital transformation and the new capital (IKN) project—is setting the country on a path to become a global leader. “What we are seeing is not just admiration for one man, but belief in a vision of Indonesia’s future,” Samuel said.
