PURWAKARTA-ASWINNEWS. COM — The Purwakarta Police Narcotics Investigation Unit (Satres) has successfully uncovered a method for storing crystal methamphetamine, which is inserted into a PCR microtube.
It is known that a microtube is a small tube used to store and manipulate small samples, especially in the centrifugation process and chemical reactions such as PCR. Microtubes are also known as microcentrifuge tubes or PCR tubes.
Storing crystal methamphetamine in a PCR microtube is a new method, which the Purwakarta Police Narcotics Investigation Unit has successfully uncovered.
In uncovering this case, the Police Narcotics Investigation Unit managed to secure a young man, MRS (25), a resident of Hegarmanah Village, Babakancikao District, Purwakarta Regency.
MRS was arrested on Jalan Taman Pahlawan, Maracang Village, Babakancikao District, Purwakarta Regency, on Thursday, May 8, 2025.
Purwakarta Police Chief, AKBP Lilik Ardhiansyah said that various modes were used by drug dealers to deceive police officers, one of which was using this microtube.
“This mode is new, where crystal methamphetamine is put into a PCR microtube. The goal is so that the crystal methamphetamine does not get wet considering that it is now the rainy season. And the suspect himself is indeed a dealer,” said Lilik, on Wednesday, (5/21/2025).
The Police Chief said that this disclosure was a commitment of the Purwakarta Police in combating drug trafficking and abuse networks in the Purwakarta Regency area.
“In this arrest, our members managed to secure 20 packages of crystal methamphetamine ready for distribution packed in microtubes and 2 clear plastic clip packages containing crystal methamphetamine. With a total gross weight of 26.09 grams of crystal methamphetamine, the items were successfully secured. In addition, a cellphone used by the perpetrator to transact drugs was also secured,” explained Lilik.
The Police Chief said that the suspect has now been secured at the Purwakarta Police Headquarters for further investigation. The police are still investigating the possibility of other perpetrators being involved in this network.
“Currently, the suspect is still being investigated further to what extent he was involved in the narcotics case. Based on the suspect’s confession, he obtained the illicit goods from a man with the initials M who is now on the Wanted List (DPO) and is being pursued,” said the man who is known for his easy smile.
Lilik ensured that he would continue to take firm action against perpetrators of drug trafficking and expand the investigation to uncover a larger network.
“The Purwakarta Police continue to be committed to carrying out massive law enforcement against perpetrators, couriers, dealers and drug lords in the Purwakarta Regency area,” said Lilik.
Separately, Head of the Purwakarta Police Narcotics Investigation Unit, AKP Yudi Wahyudi said that in uncovering this case, his party found evidence of crystal methamphetamine packed in plastic clips and put into a PCR microtube.
“A total of 20 pieces of crystal methamphetamine were packed in microtubes from the arrest of MRS, a resident of Hegarmanah Village, Babakancikao District, Purwakarta Regency,” said Yudi.
Yudi said that the perpetrator’s method still uses the old method, with a system of sticking and breaking between the seller and the buyer.
“From this disclosure, we managed to secure crystal methamphetamine with a total gross weight of 26.09 grams. We also confiscated other evidence and are currently developing it to find the supplier of the crystal methamphetamine. We are currently pursuing other perpetrators,” he said.
Yudi added that MRS is now languishing in the Purwakarta Police detention cell. He was charged with Article 114 paragraph 1 or Article 112 paragraph 1 of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics, with a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
