“Battle of The Smashers”: HTK Politeknik Negeri Bengkalis Successfully Hosts First Inter-Department Volleyball Tournament

BENGKALIS – aswinnews.com – The Maritime Student Association (HTK) of Politeknik Negeri Bengkalis successfully held its first inter-department volleyball tournament titled “Battle of The Smashers”, which took place on Saturday to Sunday, May 24-25, 2025, at the Maritime Campus in Simpang Ayam Village.

This tournament marked the first time that students from various departments came together in one sports arena to build a spirit of sportsmanship and strengthen ties among the academic community.

The Chairman of HTK Politeknik Negeri Bengkalis, Marta Uli, stated that this tournament was not just a competition, but also a space for expression and development of student talent. “This activity was designed as a forum to build camaraderie, foster a spirit of sportsmanship, and channel student interests and talents in sports, especially volleyball,” he said.

He also acknowledged that as the first time hosting the event, it was not perfect. “This is the first time we’ve held an inter-department tournament, and although there were many shortcomings, we’re grateful that every department was very enthusiastic and provided constructive support and input,” he added.

Support also came from Sandi Handoko, the HTK advisor. He appreciated the initiative of students in organizing positive activities on campus. “Hopefully, this tournament will be a valuable experience and an important reference for future HTK administrators. Activities like this can drive organizational progress and instill values of sportsmanship among students,” he said.

The Head of the Maritime Department, Zulyani, M.M, also provided moral support for the event. The tournament is expected to spark student enthusiasm to be active in productive and positive non-academic activities. “In the future, I hope events like this can become a regular agenda that’s bigger and involves more participants,” she said.

Through this event, HTK has shown its existence as a student organization that not only focuses on maritime affairs but also can create a healthy and collaborative space for students of Politeknik Negeri Bengkalis. With a spirit of togetherness, this tournament is not just a competition, but a moment to strengthen solidarity among departments and enrich campus life that’s dynamic, inclusive, and full of collaborative spirit.
