The Mission of the European Union to ASEAN hosted its first Media Gathering of the year on Monday, 26 January 2026, bringing together journalists and media representatives in an informal yet substantive engagement with the EU diplomatic mission.

The event took place from 17.00 to 19.30 WIB at SEIA Restaurant, Menara Astra (Ground Floor), Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, Central Jakarta, and was attended by H.E. Sujiro Seam, Ambassador of the European Union to ASEAN, along with senior officials and staff of the EU Mission.

During the gathering, Ambassador Sujiro Seam delivered a media briefing reflecting on key developments in EU–ASEAN relations throughout 2025, highlighting progress in political dialogue, economic cooperation, sustainable development, and people-to-people engagement between the European Union and ASEAN member states.

The Ambassador also shared insights into the European Union’s strategic priorities for 2026, emphasizing continued commitment to strengthening multilateral cooperation, supporting regional stability, promoting green and digital transitions, and deepening partnerships with ASEAN amid evolving global challenges.

Following the briefing, the Ambassador and members of the EU Mission engaged in an open question-and-answer session with journalists. Media representatives were given the opportunity to raise both general and sensitive issues related to EU–ASEAN relations, regional geopolitics, and future collaboration frameworks.

The evening concluded with a dinner gathering, providing an informal setting for further dialogue and interaction between the EU Mission and the media, reinforcing the importance of transparent communication and strong relations with the press.
