The commitment of the Cirebon City Government to maintaining interfaith harmony and tolerance was once again demonstrated by the Head of the National Unity and Politics Agency (Kesbangpol) of Cirebon City, Drs. Buntoro Tirto.
During the Christmas 2025 celebration, he personally monitored the Christmas worship service at GKIM Sukalila on Tuesday (December 25, 2025). His presence aimed to ensure that the Christian congregation could celebrate Christmas safely, peacefully, and joyfully.
This initiative also reflects the tangible presence of the government in guaranteeing freedom of religion and strengthening the spirit of unity in diversity within the community of Cirebon City.
Drs. Buntoro Tirto is widely known as a leader who upholds unity amid differences.
He emphasized that interfaith tolerance is a vital foundation for maintaining social stability and harmonious community life.
According to him, differences in belief should never become a barrier to mutual respect and peaceful coexistence.
“Cirebon City is a shared home for all religious communities. Our duty is to ensure that every citizen feels safe and comfortable in practicing their faith according to their beliefs,” Buntoro stated during the monitoring visit.
The visit was warmly welcomed by Bp. Ev. Pnt. Soenaryo Halim, a highly respected church figure within the Gereja Kristen Immanuel community. He expressed his appreciation for the attention and care shown by the Cirebon City Kesbangpol, which consistently remains present during important interfaith religious occasions.
With strong synergy between the local government, security forces, and interfaith leaders, it is hoped that a peaceful, harmonious, and mutually respectful atmosphere in Cirebon City will continue to be preserved and serve as a positive example for other regions in Indonesia.
