Garut,Aswinnews.com — KGP Ramlan Samsuri Kusumah Wijaya, S.E., CLA, a member of the Honorary Board of the Indonesian Grassroots Movement (GMBI), attended the 2025 Garut Cultural Festival, held at Kerkhof Field, Garut Regency, on Sunday (November 2, 2025). His presence demonstrated his commitment and concern for preserving the nation’s cultural values amidst the tide of modernization.
The event was attended by various community elements, traditional leaders, and artists and cultural practitioners who performed a variety of traditional Sundanese arts. A familial atmosphere and a spirit of togetherness were felt throughout the entire series of activities, including a communal prayer for the preservation of regional culture.
In his remarks, Kakang Prabu Ramlan Samsuri Kusumah Wijaya, S.E., CLA, expressed his gratitude and respect to the Chairman of the Padepokan Sunan Pusaka, Kang Tatang, along with all the committee members and invited guests in attendance.
“I would like to thank the Chairman of the Padepokan Sunan Pusaka for this invitation, as well as to all the invited guests,” he said.
Ramlan emphasized that culture is a national identity that must not be lost to the times.
“Culture is our identity. If we don’t preserve it, the younger generation will lose their roots and direction,” he said.
He also expressed his appreciation to the judges and participants who have dedicated themselves to preserving the cultural heritage of our ancestors in the archipelago.
According to him, Nusantara culture is a powerful force that serves as the foundation of national unity. He also conveyed a message to the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, Fadly Jhon, urging that culture continue to be the identity of the Indonesian nation.
“Nusantara culture is an extraordinary strength. With the spirit and soul of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika (Unity in Diversity), I hope every individual of this nation will love their homeland and Mother Earth even more,” said Kakang Prabu Ramlan.
On that occasion, Ramlan also touched on the philosophy of the Kujang heirloom, which he believed depicts the stages of human life and the obligation to remain loyal to Mother Earth.
He also explained the meaning of the phrase “Sampurasun,” often used by the Sundanese people.
“Sampurasun means a servant’s apology before the Almighty, with all his shortcomings and strengths. All humans are equal before God,” he explained.
Kakang Prabu Ramlan Samsuri Kusumah Wijaya’s presence at the 2025 Garut Cultural Festival is an important symbol that cultural preservation is not only the responsibility of artists, but also of all elements of the nation who love their homeland and respect their ancestral heritage.
