PURWAKARTA — Aswinnews.com
Regent of Purwakarta, Saepul Bahri Binzein—widely known as Om Zein—has responded to the latest public survey by the Indonesian Survey Circle (LSI) Denny JA, which shows strong public approval of his leadership.
Despite the favorable numbers, Om Zein acknowledged there is still significant work to be done, particularly in improving human resources (HR), community character, and cultural values in Purwakarta.
“We still have major homework ahead, especially in strengthening human resources, character building, and community culture. These are key factors that influence our economic growth and job opportunities,” said Om Zein on Thursday, July 10, 2025.
He emphasized the importance of collective effort and encouraged all parties to begin with small, everyday actions.
“Let’s start from the simplest things. Sometimes, we ignore the small details and end up unable to solve the bigger issues,” he added.
High Approval for Om Zein’s Personal Leadership
Toto Izul Fatah, Executive Director of Citra Komunikasi LSI Denny JA, presented the survey findings, noting that public satisfaction with Om Zein personally (81.6%) surpassed that for the government institution he leads (79.5%).
“This shows that the public places higher trust in Om Zein as an individual than in the bureaucracy of the Purwakarta Regency Government,” said Toto.
Toto further explained that the recognition and likability levels of Om Zein are exceptionally high, with recognition at 98.2% and likability at 97.0%—indicators that fall into LSI’s “moncer” (shining/potentially unbeatable) category.
“From LSI’s experience conducting hundreds of regional surveys, figures with these kinds of metrics have a strong chance of re-election,” he said.
Public-Acknowledged Achievements
Survey respondents credited several sectors as key achievements of Om Zein’s administration:
Infrastructure development (33.6%)
Education (20.5%)
Agriculture (11.8%)
Health (9.3%)
Economy (8.0%)
Other programs (<5%)
Toto noted satisfaction with transportation infrastructure (76.6%) and public services (over 80%) also stood out.
Challenges Remain: Economy & Unemployment
Despite the praise, the survey also uncovered persistent challenges. A majority of respondents still cited economic hardship (64.5%) and unemployment (73.2%) as major issues that need urgent attention—issues that both Om Zein and his political ally Abang Ijo are expected to address.
Nevertheless, the overall sentiment about the region’s situation remained positive, with strong scores in:
Security (84.0%)
Social harmony (84.3%)
Governance (70.0%)
Law enforcement (70.0%)
The survey was conducted between June 30 and July 5, 2025, using Multistage Random Sampling on 440 respondents through face-to-face interviews. The margin of error is ±4.8 percent.
