In a historic achievement for the Indonesian film industry, “JUMBO”, an animated feature by Visinema Studios, has officially become the highest-grossing Indonesian animated film of all time, amassing a remarkable 10,076,973 viewers as of Monday afternoon, June 2, 2025.
Even more impressive, this record-breaking milestone was achieved in just over two months since its premiere on March 31, 2025.
Directed by Ryan Adriandhy and developed over five years by more than 420 local creators, JUMBO tells the heartwarming story of Don, a young dreamer who sets out to perform a stage play inspired by a book left behind by his parents. With the help of his new friends, Don embarks on an emotional journey that celebrates courage, self-confidence, and true friendship.
“It feels like a dream come true,” said director Ryan Adriandhy. “A locally produced animated film, with universal themes wrapped in Indonesian values and crafted from the hearts of our creative team, is embraced warmly by Indonesian families. This is a collective victory.”
Ryan expressed deep gratitude to the entire JUMBO team who dedicated their energy and passion since the film’s inception five years ago, and to audiences, communities, and institutions that supported the film’s journey.
Meanwhile, Herry B. Salim, CEO of Visinema Studios, credited the film’s success to its authentic resonance with viewers.
