Jombang-aswinnews.com- A total of 112 medical students from Ciputra University Faculty of Medicine, Surabaya, took part in the “Early Clinical Exposure Program” at Mojowarno Christian Hospital over two days, from January 8 to January 9, 2025.

This program aims to provide hands-on experience in a clinical setting, allowing students to understand the healthcare system, interact with patients, and recognize the roles of medical professionals.

Additionally, the program is designed to foster professionalism, empathy, and communication skills, essential for their journey to becoming competent doctors.

The opening ceremony was held on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, attended by the dean and supervising lecturers of Ciputra University Faculty of Medicine, as well as the director and staff of Mojowarno Christian Hospital.

In his speech, Dr. Heri Wibowo, M.Kes, expressed his gratitude for the trust shown by Ciputra University in collaborating with Mojowarno Christian Hospital as a training and learning site for its students.

“I hope that through this program, the students gain direct experience and can understand the processes of healthcare delivery in a hospital environment because they are the future doctors,” said Dr. Heri.

Prof. Dr. Hendy Hendarto, dr. Sp.OG. Subsp. F.E.R., the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Ciputra University, added,

“I remind our students to uphold the values of Ciputra University: integrity, professionalism, and entrepreneurship. With integrity, we can be trusted; with professionalism, we can be relied upon; and with entrepreneurship, we innovate for the future. I would also like to thank the director of Mojowarno Hospital and his team for providing students the opportunity to learn at this hospital.”

During the program, students were introduced to various hospital environments, including outpatient services, the emergency department, inpatient care, and support facilities such as laboratories, radiology, nutrition rooms, sanitation, repair facilities, laundry, and sterilization units (CSSD). Sharlene, one of the students, shared her thoughts: “This activity was exciting and engaging because it provided detailed explanations about the functions of various hospital departments. Moreover, the hospital is spacious, clean, beautiful, and staffed by friendly personnel.”

Meanwhile, Michael noted that the activity enhanced his understanding of patient examination workflows in each department while offering insights into how doctors collaborate with other team members.

“The purpose of this program is to expose first-semester medical students from Ciputra University Faculty of Medicine to clinical environments at an early stage. It is hoped that this will increase their empathy, professionalism, and motivation for improvement in the future.
Additionally, this program strengthens the strategic partnership between Ciputra University Faculty of Medicine and Mojowarno Christian Hospital,” said Dr. Rosalyn D. Santoso, Sp.B.P.R.E., one of the supervising lecturers.

Dr. Rosalyn further commented,

“We were impressed by the hospital’s services, which were not only professional but also empathetic and warm. The hospital is clean, comfortable, surrounded by trees, and has fresh air, which I believe supports the healing process for patients.”
