BENGKALIS – In order to celebrate Chinese New Year 2025, Hok Ann Kiong Temple Bengkalis held a free culinary tour event for two days, on February 1 and 2, 2025. This event aims to share happiness and strengthen the togetherness of the community.
The Head of the Temple, Herman Kasuma, explained when confirmed in between his busy schedule on Sunday, February 2, 2025, that various foods, ranging from traditional Chinese New Year dishes to modern snacks, were served free of charge. These foods were voluntary donations from local Chinese residents.
“This event is held at the Hok Ann Kiong Temple complex, which is the center of Chinese New Year celebrations. We want everyone to feel happiness, peace, and togetherness,” said Herman.
In addition to enjoying food, this event is also a means of friendship between residents. This activity also introduces Chinese culture to the wider community.
Not only culinary, the Chinese New Year celebration at this temple was also enlivened by Chinese cultural arts performances and joint prayers. The Bengkalis community welcomed this event and appreciated the Hok Ann Kiong Temple’s initiative in strengthening harmony between residents.
