It all began with a humble alms donation of 10,000 rupiah from an Allah’s servant. Mr. Darlin was inspired and motivated to renovate the Assa’aadatul Ikhlasiyyah Mosque located at Jalan Pedatai Raya No. 25, Jatinegara, East Jakarta.
Mr. Darlin, commonly known by his nickname, on Saturday night, August 16, 2025, coinciding with the eve of Indonesia’s 80th Independence Day on August 17, 2025, invited the entire community for a thanksgiving celebration. Several respected ulama, government officials, community leaders of Jatinegara, as well as the mosque congregation of Assa’aadatul Ikhlasiyyah and the main driving figure of the mosque renovation, Mr. Ns. Darlin, S.Kep, MN.MS, appeared filled with happiness, emotion, and gratitude to Allah SWT.
“Alhamdulillah, on behalf of the Mosque Committee and the Renovation Development Committee of Assa’aadatul Ikhlasiyyah Mosque, I give thanks to Allah SWT for the completion of this renovation this evening, which coincides with Indonesia’s Independence Day. We also express gratitude to all parties who have cared for this mosque and donated their wealth and blessings, whether philanthropists, donors, community members, ulama, government officials, or Friday congregation members from various groups,” expressed Mr. Darlin, the driving figure behind the two-story mosque renovation.
The initial target for the mosque renovation was 8 months, starting in June 2024. However, unforeseen additional works extended the renovation to 1 year and 1 month before completion, said Mr. Darlin, who is also a successful Muslim entrepreneur.
Furthermore, he added, “This mosque has flourished because of the involvement of the congregation and the wider community. Even a humble servant of Allah contributed 10,000 rupiah to the mosque development by placing it in the donation box. That inspired me to continue the renovation work persistently. If even the poor are willing to donate and give charity, surely the wealthy will too. This is part of our Islamic propagation,” said Mr. Darlin, who that night presented commemorative certificates of appreciation to those who donated. (Sudrajat)
