The Role of Women Peacekeepers as Agents of Change for World Peace

SENTUL, BOGOR-ASWINNEWS.COM – To increase knowledge before carrying out world peace missions, Participants of the TNI Garuda Contingent (Konga) United Interim Force In Lebanon (UNIFIL) Pre-Assignment Task Force (Satgas) TA 2025 received briefing from United Nations (UN) Women on Understanding The Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Agenda. The activity took place at the TNI PMPP Sentul Auditorium, Bogor on Tuesday (04/03/2025).

UN Women is a United Nations (UN) agency established in 2010 by the UN General Assembly and focuses on gender equality and women’s empowerment. In this activity, the speakers from UN Women were Women, Peace and Security Programme Analyst Mrs. Nastasha Jimenez and Governance/Women, Peace and Security Programme Analyst Mrs. Hosianna Anggraeni.

The speaker from UN Women explained about the Impact of Conflict and Humanitarian Crisis Based on Gender, the Role of Women in Conflict where Women are not only victims of conflict but can also be agents of change in creating sustainable peace, the WPS Agenda is based on UN Resolution 1325 which emphasizes the need for protection of women, their participation in conflict resolution, and prevention of gender-based violence.

In a separate place, the Commander of PMPP TNI Major General TNI Taufik Budi Santoso, S.Hub.Int., M.H.I., advised that all materials in the briefing be used as guidelines by all Pratugas participants in carrying out peacekeeping missions in Lebanon later.
