TNI Assists in Repatriation of 84 Indonesian Citizens Victims of ‘Online Scam’ in Myanmar
JAKARTA-ASWINNEWS.COM- The Indonesian National Army (TNI) helped repatriate 84 Indonesian Citizens (WNI) suspected of being Victims of TPPO who worked in the Online Scamming Sector in Myanmar via Bangkok’s Don Mueang Airport, some time ago.
Defense Attaché (Athan) RI Bangkok Colonel Cke Faisal R Hutagalung, said that the Indonesian citizen repatriation team was actively involved in establishing communication and coordination with the Thai military on duty in Maesot, on the Myanmar border. The Athan RI on duty in Bangkok, Thailand also assisted in the repatriation of the Indonesian citizens from Myawaddy Myanmar until they arrived in Jakarta.
He added that the repatriation process of a number of Indonesian citizens was carried out through long efforts that synergized various parties including the TNI. “The success of the repatriation of Indonesian citizens is real evidence of the state’s presence in protecting citizens in need, and the TNI will always synergize with various related parties for the interests of the nation and state,” he said to the press on Tuesday, March 4, 2025.
To note, 84 Indonesian citizens consisting of 69 men and 15 women were first crossed over the Myanmar-Thailand border and then repatriated to Jakarta via Bangkok’s Donmeuang Airport. The Directorate for the Protection of Indonesian Citizens of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as the leading sector works hand in hand with the Indonesian Embassy in Yangon and the Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok to ensure that the repatriation can be carried out properly.
