BENGKALIS – ASWINNEWS.COM – In an effort to preserve traditional games, the Muntai Village Government under the leadership of Village Head Muhammad Nurin, together with Bengkalis DPRD member for Bantan Electoral District, Muhammad Isa Selamat, will hold a Congkak Match Simulation on Saturday (2/15/2025) at the Datuk Laksamana Raja Dilaut History Gallery, Muntai Village, Bantan District, Bengkalis Regency, Riau Province.
According to Muhammad Nurin, the Congkak game is part of a cultural heritage that must be preserved and reintroduced to the younger generation.
“In the past, Congkak was played by almost all children in the village. However, along with the development of technology, this game has begun to be abandoned. We hope that this event can be the first step to rekindle love for our culture,” he said when met by aswinews.com on Friday (2/14/2025).
This activity was welcomed positively by the community, with participants of various ages, from children to the elderly. The committee has also prepared various attractive prizes for the winners as a form of appreciation.
“Let’s together preserve culture and maintain the richness of our traditions. Hopefully this activity will bring benefits and blessings to all of us,” concluded Muhammad Nurin.
