In an effort to strengthen national energy security and accelerate the energy transition, the Indonesian Energy, Mineral, and Coal Suppliers Association (Aspebindo), in collaboration with Kolaborasi Energi Indonesia, hosted a talk show titled “Optimizing Coal Gasification for Energy Security and Transition” on Wednesday (July 17, 2025), at Dia.Lo.Gue Café, Kemang, South Jakarta.

The talk show, which started at 2:30 PM local time, featured key speakers from strategic sectors, including:

  • Anggawira, Chairman of Aspebindo
  • Rio Supin, President Director of PT Bumi Etam Chemical
  • Jamil Amir Baduwi, President Director of PT Amir Brothers Gasification
  • Rahmat Ginanjar, Working Group on Mineral and Coal Downstreaming at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM)
  • Ahmad Balya, Deputy Head of Legal & Public Policy Advocacy of Aspebindo

The discussion was moderated by Muhammad Mulyadi.

During the event, the speakers emphasized the urgent need for regulatory support and legal certainty to ensure the sustainability of coal gasification investments. Such efforts are seen as crucial steps in maintaining national energy resilience while transitioning toward cleaner energy sources.

Rahmat Ginanjar outlined five strategic policies being prepared by the government to drive coal downstreaming. These include:

  • Granting priority mining licenses (WIUP)
  • Extending operating periods up to 30 years
  • Reducing royalty rates to 0% as a fiscal incentive for coal gasification companies

“These incentives are essential to attract long-term investment and guarantee the continuity of gasification projects in support of national energy security,” he said.

Meanwhile, Jamil Amir Baduwi, President Director of PT Amir Brothers Gasification, expressed his company’s readiness to act as both an investor and technology provider in coal gasification projects. He also highlighted the importance of collaboration with companies like PT Bumi Etam Chemical, led by Rio Supin, to accelerate the implementation of clean coal-based technologies.

This event reflects the growing synergy between government bodies, business actors, and industry associations in building a more self-reliant and sustainable energy future for Indonesia.
