Riau, June 6, 2025 —
The Regional Executive Board (DPD) of the International Journalists Association (ASWIN) in Riau Province has officially reorganized its internal structure. As part of this restructuring, Elon MT Siregar has been appointed as the new Secretary, replacing Joni Hermanus, who has completed his term.
This leadership change is a strategic move to support the growth, development, and professionalization of ASWIN in Riau Province.
Chairman of DPD ASWIN Riau, Ismail Tg Pranata, emphasized that the Secretary holds a pivotal role within the organization—not only handling administrative responsibilities but also acting as a vital link between internal teams and external stakeholders, including the public, local government, and law enforcement.
“The Secretary must be active, proactive, and capable of fostering strong communication across all sectors,” said Ismail.
The appointment of Elon MT Siregar has been formalized through an official Decree issued by DPD ASWIN Riau. With the issuance of the decree, the authority and responsibilities of the previous Secretary, Joni Hermanus, officially come to an end.
Upholding Ethics and Professional Values
In his address, Ismail underlined the importance of upholding the principles of Justice, Ethics, and Journalism (KEJ) as the foundation of the organization’s work. He also reiterated that adherence to organizational rules, discipline, and dignified cooperation are essential values for every ASWIN member.
“We hope Mr. Elon MT Siregar will carry out his duties with sincerity, responsibility, and integrity,” he stated.
“We also extend our deepest gratitude to Mr. Joni Hermanus for his dedication and valuable contributions to ASWIN’s development in Riau.”
Leadership Refresh for Organizational Progress
According to Ismail, leadership rotations such as this are common in dynamic organizations and are essential for introducing new energy and responding to evolving challenges.
“Leadership renewal is a normal part of ensuring the organization remains relevant, forward-thinking, and committed to serving the public interest,” he concluded.
