Meranti Young Generation Ready to be the Vanguard to Prevent Forest and Land Fires in Riau Province Jamboree

MERANTI – ASWINNEWS.COM – As many as 45 Scout members from Meranti Islands Regency are ready to make the region proud in the 2025 Forest and Land Fire (Karhutla) Jamboree at the Riau Province level which will take place at the Tahura Minas Camping Ground, Siak Regency, from 24 to 27 April 2025.

The release of participants was carried out directly by the Regent of Meranti Islands, AKBP (Ret.) H. Asmar, Wednesday (23/4/2025), at the Tebingtinggi Police Station Yard, Jalan Pembangunan II, Selatpanjang. The activity was also attended by local government officials, police, and Scout leaders.

The participants who were sent consisted of 20 male participants and 25 female participants, who were delegates from the Meranti Islands Scout Movement Branch Office, the result of selection from various SMA, SMK, and MA in the area.

Regent Asmar expressed his pride and gratitude to all parties who had prepared the participants well. He emphasized the importance of maintaining the good name of the region during the activity.

“All of you are not only carrying the name of the scout group, but also carrying the name of the Meranti Islands. Maintain your attitude, maintain your spirit, and absorb as much knowledge as possible,” said Asmar enthusiastically.

The 2025 Karhutla Jamboree is an educational and preventive activity initiated by the Riau Province Youth and Sports Service together with the TNI and Polri, aiming to raise awareness of the younger generation regarding the importance of protecting forests and land from the dangers of fire.

In addition to technical training and disaster management simulations, participants will also be involved in fun, interactive scouting activities that build cross-regional solidarity.

“This is not just a camp, but an open-air learning space to form young people who are tough, care about the environment, and are ready to be pioneers in society,” concluded the Regent.
