Submission of MURI Record for MOP Vasectomy Service for 2,000 Men Throughout Indonesia

Minister of Population and Family Development/Head of BKKBN Wihaji stated that contraception (KB) with the Male Operation Method (MOP) vasectomy is a gift from men to all women in Indonesia in order to commemorate Kartini Day.
“The ministry’s task is to prevent and change behavior, the contraceptive method is how to ensure that in our family there are those who follow the contraceptive method, one of which is vasectomy. So, in the future, this will be part of the spirit of equality, that not only women are the objects of contraception, but men are also given space to use the vasectomy contraceptive method,” said Wihaji while reviewing MOP services in Majalengka Regency, Tuesday (22/04/2025).
Majalengka Regency is one of the areas for the implementation of simultaneous vasectomy. Minister of Population and Family Development/Head of BKKBN Wihaji together with Majalengka Regent, Deputy Regent and Dandim 0617/Majalengka and Head of DP3AKB monitored the MOP activities, there were around 100 residents targeted to participate in the MOP Vasectomy.
“Today we broke the MURI record, there were 2,000 people who underwent the male surgery method or vasectomy. This is one of the emancipation gifts from men to all women in Indonesia on Kartini Day,” he said.
According to Wihaji, the activities carried out simultaneously in several regions in two days were to increase the scope of MOP as much as possible. So far, said Wihaji, there are still some assumptions that residents who undergo vasectomy will feel pain and are no longer powerful.
“In fact, (vasectomy) has been around for a long time and the people who do it are fine,” said Wihaji. However, he said, education related to vasectomy in the community is still very much needed. Moreover, so far, women have often been the object of contraceptive use
Each participant in this activity must meet a number of requirements, such as a minimum age of 35 years, have two children with the second child at least three years old, and get the wife’s approval. Acceptors also undergo health checks, such as blood pressure and blood sugar.
