SMPN 3 Sindang Holds Kartini Day Ceremony, Wearing Traditional Kebaya
Indramayu-aswinnews.com- There was something unique and special about the atmosphere this Monday at SMPN 3 Sindang, Indramayu Regency. In order to commemorate Kartini Day which falls on April 21, SMP Negeri 3 Sindang, Indramayu Regency held a flag ceremony with a special nuance, on Monday (04/21/2025).
All teachers and students participated in the ceremony by wearing kebaya and traditional clothes or traditional clothes from various regions in Indonesia.
The ceremony was held in the school yard with full solemnity and a spirit of nationalism. Female teachers acted as ceremony officers and the Principal of SMPN 3 Sindang, Hj. Ani Hanifah, S. Pd. M.Pd. acted as the ceremony instructor by delivering a message regarding the importance of the role of women in national development and the spirit of R.A. Kartini’s struggle in fighting for equality in education.
“We must instill the spirit of R.A. Kartini in ourselves, not only for women, but also for the entire young generation to continue to dare to dream, work, and contribute to the progress of national development,” he said in his message.

The teacher who initiated this activity who is also a social studies teacher, when interviewed by the media said that the uniqueness of this ceremony is the clothing worn by the participants of the ceremony. The female students looked graceful in kebaya with various motifs and colors, while the male students appeared dashing in traditional clothing such as batik, beskap and traditional clothes from their respective regions. The teachers also participated by wearing kebaya and traditional clothing, adding to the lively atmosphere. Meanwhile, male teachers still wore their uniforms on Monday.
“After the ceremony, the activity continued with a kebaya and traditional fashion show competition and the reading of R. A. Kartini’s struggle poems by representatives of students and OSIS. This event is not only a form of respect for R.A. Kartini’s struggle, but also an effort to preserve the nation’s culture from an early age,” said Diny.
“With this activity, it is hoped that students of SMPN 3 Sindang can emulate the spirit of R.A. Kartini’s struggle and love the nation’s culture even more,” he concluded.
