Bengkalis Police Hold Press Release, Reveal Marijuana Planting Case in Rupat
BENGKALIS –ASWINNEWS.COM – Bengkalis Police held a press release activity on Saturday (12/4/2025) at the Bengkalis Police Headquarters Hall. In this activity, the Deputy Chief of Bengkalis Police representing the Bengkalis Police Chief AKBP Budi Setiawan, S.I.K., M.I.K., explained the disclosure of a narcotics case of the marijuana plant type that occurred in the jurisdiction of the Bengkalis Police.
In his statement, the Deputy Chief of Police was accompanied by the Head of the Bengkalis Police Narcotics Unit, Iptu Doni Binsar. They conveyed the chronology of the arrest of a suspect with the initials NA alias Anto, who is strongly suspected of being the perpetrator of planting and maintaining marijuana plants at his house, Jalan Pelajar Dusun II, Pangkalan Nyirih Village, Rupat District.
The arrest was made on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at around 03.30 WIB by the Narcotics Operations Team. From the location, officers managed to secure 8 (eight) pots containing marijuana plants and 1 (one) white Android cellphone as evidence.
“The perpetrator admitted to getting marijuana seeds from someone with the initials A, who is currently still under investigation. The suspect was promised a reward of IDR 300 thousand and an additional IDR 500 thousand if the plants grew well,” explained Iptu Doni Binsar.
The Bengkalis Deputy Chief of Police emphasized that the suspect would be charged with Article 114 paragraph (2) and Article 111 paragraph (2) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics, which carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.
On that occasion, the Deputy Chief of Police also conveyed the Bengkalis Police’s commitment to continue eradicating the abuse and distribution of narcotics throughout Bengkalis Regency.
“We invite all elements of society to work together to combat drugs. Report any suspicious activity. With synergy, we can create a safe and clean environment free from narcotics,” he said.
The press release activity ended with a question and answer session with the media crew who were also present, as well as an affirmation from the ranks of the Narcotics Unit to continue to increase patrols and investigations in order to break the chain of illegal drug trafficking in the jurisdiction of the Bengkalis Police.
