Mapag Sri in Sindang Village and Dermayu Village, Indramayu
INDRAMAYU-ASWINNEWS.COM- Sindang Village and Dermayu Village held a Mapag Sri traditional event on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at the Jangkar Reservoir in Sindang Village.
This event is part of the Sundanese and Javanese traditions related to the ceremony to welcome the rice harvest.
Mapag Sri is carried out as an expression of gratitude to Allah SWT for the produce of the earth and as a hope that the harvest will run smoothly and the results will be abundant.
Kuwu of Sindang Village, Carnita, and Kuwu of Dermayu Village, Wasjudin, expressed their gratitude to Allah SWT for their safety and blessings. They also emphasized the importance of mutual cooperation and the spirit of farmers to realize the vision and mission of the Regent of Indramayu.
This event was attended by Kuwu of Sindang Village, Kuwu of Dermayu Village, Kuwu of Terusan Village, PPL of Dermayu Village, PPL of Sindang Village, Gapoktan, Head of Jasa Kompanisasi, farmers, and other invited guests.
The Mapag Sri tradition is a ritual performed to welcome Dewi Sri, the goddess of rice and fertility in the beliefs of the agricultural community in Java, especially Sundanese and Javanese.
This event is held before the main harvest as part of a series of traditional agricultural ceremonies in the countryside.
