“Speak English with Me Please! – Small Talk, Big Impact” aims
to improve students’ English language skills in a relaxed and fun atmosphere.
SMPN 3 Sindang presents the weekly program “Speak English with Me Please!” every Thursday. With this year’s theme “Small Talk, Big Impact”, this program encourages all school residents to have small talks in English, both between students, teachers, and school staff.
Through simple interactions such as greeting, asking how they are, or having short discussions, students are encouraged to be more confident in using English in everyday life. Because from small talk, a big impact can be born for the future in getting used to and improving English skills.
The following are the materials and activities for the English Thursday program – “Speak English with Me, Please!” at SMPN 3 Sindang
Supporting Materials (Can be changed every week):
Week 1 Theme: Self-Introduction
Vocabulary: name, age, hobbies, favorite food
Key sentences:
“Hi, my name is…”
“I am … years old.”
“I like…”
Mini dialogue:
A: “Hi! What’s your name?”
B: “My name is Rani. And you?”
A: “I’m Dito. Nice to meet you!”
B: “Nice to meet you too!”
Week 2 Theme: Asking and Giving Direction
Week 3 Theme: School Life
Week 4 Theme:
My Family and Friends
(Rotates every Thursday).
Fun Activities:
1. English Patrol
Students who speak English outside of class get star stickers. The one who collects the most gets a weekly prize.
2. English Buddy System
Each student has an “English Buddy” and they must speak English for at least 5 minutes during Thursdays.
3. Fun Games in English:
“Guess the Word” (Guess the word through movement)
“English Bingo” (Find a friend who likes … using English)
“Who Am I?” (Guess a character or profession with clues in English)
4. Thursday English Booth
A small stand in the corner of the school where students can practice speaking with teachers or seniors.
5. Daily English Challenges
For example:
“Say thank you in English 5 times today”
“Ask 3 friends how they’re doing in English”
Program supporters:
1. Worksheet (Week 1: Self-Introduction)
Simple activities to get to know yourself and your friends in English.
2. Participation Certificate
Can be given to students who are active every month.
3. Star Stickers (English Star Stickers)
A cute and elegant star-shaped design that can be printed and cut to be attached to uniforms as a form of participation and appreciation.
The Implementer of the Thursday English Program at SMPN 3 Sindang Indramayu, Mrs. Ayu Indrawati, S. Pd. stated to the media that the ability, habituation and courage need to be stimulated and conditioned in such a way through the Thursday English program, so that students’ ability and self-confidence in English will increase.
The Principal of SMPN 3 Sindang Indramayu, Hj. Ani Hanifah, S. Pd. M. Pd., Tuesday, April 8, 2025 stated that she really welcomes every good, creative and innovative school program. Both in the co-curricular, intra-curricular and intra-curricular fields.
