*A. International Children’s Book Day*

International Children’s Book Day is celebrated every April 2, as a form of international appreciation for the importance of reading and literacy for children around the world. This commemoration certainly aims to increase children’s interest in reading and motivate and inspire them to love books from an early age.

April 2 was chosen because it coincides with the birthday of Hans Christian Andersen, the famous Danish fairy tale writer, such as The Little Mermaid, The Ugly Duckling, and The Emperor’s New Clothes.

Andersen is considered a symbol of the world of children’s stories, and through his works, he has had a major impact in motivating and inspiring the world of reading and literacy in the field of children’s reading and literature.

International Children’s Book Day was first celebrated in 1967, at the initiative of the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY), an international organization focused on promoting children’s literacy and access to quality books. This commemoration also aims to highlight the importance of children’s rights to books that are appropriate to their age and culture.
