Demonstration to Reject Revision of TNI Law Held at Jombang DPRD, Welcomed by Deputy Chairman of DPRD

Jombang-aswinnews.com- The wave of rejection of the revision of the TNI Law continues to spread.

A number of community elements in Jombang held a demonstration entitled “Jombang Menggugat”, which took place on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 15.00 WIB in front of the Jombang Regency DPRD building.

This action carried the call #CabutUUTNI and #IndonesiaGelap as a form of protest against the expansion of the TNI’s function in the civilian realm.

The participants in the action wore all black as a symbol of resistance against policies that were considered to endanger democracy.

In their demands, the demonstrators urged the government to:

1. Revoke the revision of the TNI Law which is considered detrimental to civilian democracy.

2. Reject the expansion of the TNI’s function in the civilian realm.

3. Reject the addition of TNI authority in military operations other than war, especially in the cyber realm.

4. Disband the territorial command.

5. Return the TNI to the barracks and remove active TNI members from civilian positions.

This action received a response from the Jombang Regency DPRD. Deputy Chairperson of the Jombang DPRD, H. Syarif Hidayatullah, ST., MT., and H. Mas’ud Zuremi, also met with the demonstrators.

Their presence showed that the legislative body was concerned about the aspirations of the people.

Until this news was published, there had been no further statement from the local government regarding the demands conveyed by the demonstrators.
