Previously on the Run, Purwakarta Police Finally Arrest Murderer in Cianjur Area

PURWAKARTA- ASWINNEWS.COM – The escape of the perpetrator of the murder in Malang Nengah Wetan Village, Nagri Tengah Village, Purwakarta District/Regency who was on the run ended up behind bars.

The perpetrator with the initials AZB (51), a resident of Karang Anyar Village, Nagri Tengah Village, Purwakarta District/Regency, was secured by personnel from the Purwakarta Police Criminal Investigation Unit in Cianjur Regency, on Tuesday, March 25, 2025.

It is known that AZB managed to escape after stabbing Asep Budi Kusnadinata (52) on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at the victim’s residence. As a result of the incident, the victim died from stab wounds.

Purwakarta Police Chief, AKBP Lilik Ardhiansyah said, the perpetrator who had been on the run for several days was successfully secured by the Joint Team of Unit 1 Jatanras Sat Reskrim Polres Purwakarta, Resmob Unit Polres Purwakarta and Resmob Polda Jabar in Cianjur Regency, on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at around 04.00 WIB.

“The perpetrator AZB was secured in a rented house in Cianjur Regency. So after carrying out the heinous act against the victim who was his friend, he immediately fled to Cianjur Regency,” said Lilik, while holding a press conference, on Tuesday, (3/25/2025).

The Police Chief explained, the murder occurred, on Thursday, March 20, 2025 at around 05.10 WIB in Kampung Malang Nengah Wetan, Nagri Tengah Village, Purwakarta District, Purwakarta Regency, West Java.

In his action, said Lilik, the perpetrator AZB entered the victim’s house by breaking down the door and went straight into the victim’s room and then stabbed the victim who was sleeping naked using a sharp weapon, a dagger.

“The victim who was sleeping was stabbed by the perpetrator in the left chest, right chest and left arm, resulting in the victim’s death,” said Lilik.

After the incident, he added, the perpetrator fled to the house of the witness with the initials A and asked to be taken to the Ciganea Terminal. “At that time the perpetrator had told the witness who took him to see the victim’s condition,” explained Lilik.

Lilik continued, armed with the results of the investigation in the field and witness statements, information was obtained that at that time the perpetrator was in the Cianjur Regency area.

“It didn’t take long for the Purwakarta Police Criminal Investigation Unit personnel assisted by the West Java Police Mobile Brigade to secure the perpetrator. Then the perpetrator was taken to the Purwakarta Police for further examination,” said Lilik.

The Police Chief said the victim and the perpetrator were old friends. The perpetrator admitted to stabbing the victim to death because he felt betrayed.

Lilik revealed that the victim and the suspect had previously been involved in an argument the day before. The perpetrator felt resentful and finally stabbed the victim who was sleeping.

“The day before they had an argument and were broken up by friends. The perpetrator, who still felt resentful, then went to the victim’s house and stabbed the victim until the victim died,” explained Lilik.

For his sadistic actions, said the Police Chief, the perpetrator was charged with Article 338 of the Criminal Code. “The perpetrator of the murder is subject to a maximum sentence of 20 years,” said Lilik.
