Cheap Food Movement in Tanjungsari: Sumedang Regency Government Stabilizes Staple Food Prices Ahead of Eid

SUMEDANG-ASWINNEWS.COM- The Sumedang Regency Government held a Cheap Food Movement (GPM) at the Tanjungsari District Office Yard on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, ahead of Eid al-Fitr.

This activity was attended by the Deputy Regent of Sumedang, M. Fajar Aldila, along with several Heads of Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD).

Deputy Regent Fajar Aldila stated that this program aims to maintain the stability of prices of important staple foods (Bapokting), especially ahead of Eid.

“This is our effort to maintain price stability, especially Bapokting. We provide rice, cooking oil, eggs, frozen food, and kitchen spices such as chilies and tomatoes. We will continue to evaluate prices and anticipate spikes quickly through the Sindang application for real-time price monitoring,” said Fajar Aldila.

Regarding the price of cooking oil, Fajar Aldila emphasized the government’s efforts to keep prices stable, in accordance with the direction of the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy.

“We are trying to ensure that the price of oil is no more than IDR 18,000 per liter, even though there are market dynamics that influence it,” he added.

Fajar Aldila also stated that the Sumedang Regency Government will continue to implement GPM and market operations as long as there are still price spikes felt by the community.

“If inflation increases and the community feels burdened, we will immediately intervene in the market,” he said.

The presence of GPM was welcomed positively by residents of Jatisari Village, Tanjungsari District, Tanjungsari. Rini (43) said that this program was very helpful.

“The economy is currently difficult, so the existence of GPM is very helpful. I buy rice and vegetables at a cheaper price than in the market. 5 kg of rice here is only IDR 58,000, while in the market it can reach IDR 70,000 to IDR 80,000,” he said.

Juju (40), a resident of Karasak Sukasari, also felt helped by the existence of GPM. “The price of eggs in the market is Rp30,000, but here it is only Rp25,000. I bought eggs, oil, and rice. Hopefully, the price of basic necessities will remain affordable,” said Juju
