Regent Asmar Attends Farewell Ceremony of Riau Police Chief, Affirms Commitment to Synergy of Meranti Regency Government

PEKANBARU –ASWINNEWS.COM – Regent of Meranti Islands, AKBP (Ret.) H. Asmar, attended the farewell ceremony of the Riau Regional Police Chief (Kapolda) at Balai Serindit, Pekanbaru City, Wednesday (19/3/2025). The event marked the change of leadership of the Riau Police from Inspector General Pol Mohammad Iqbal to Inspector General Pol Dr. Herry Heryawan.

In his remarks, Regent Asmar expressed his appreciation for the dedication of Inspector General Pol Mohammad Iqbal during his tenure as Riau Police Chief. He also prayed for the success of Inspector General Iqbal who received a new mandate as a member of the DPD RI.

“On behalf of the Meranti Islands Regency Government, we would like to express our gratitude for Inspector General Iqbal’s hard work and dedication to the people of Riau, especially in the field of security and order. May he be successful in his new assignment,” said Asmar.

To Inspector General of Police Dr. Herry Heryawan who now leads the Riau Police, Regent Asmar conveyed his welcome. He also emphasized the commitment of the Meranti Regency Government to continue to synergize with the ranks of the Riau Police.

“We are ready to fully support the police’s steps in maintaining regional conduciveness, especially in the Meranti Islands. Good collaboration will certainly strengthen services to the community,” he said.

For information, the mutation of the Riau Police Chief’s position was stated in the Chief of Police’s Telegram Letter Number 488/III/2025 dated March 12, 2025. Inspector General of Police Mohammad Iqbal was entrusted with a new task outside the Polri structure, while Inspector General of Police Dr. Herry Heryawan previously served as Special Staff to the Minister of Home Affairs.

On that occasion, Regent Asmar was also accompanied by the Meranti Islands Police Chief AKBP Kurnia Setyawan, Head of General Affairs of the Regional Secretariat Tarmizi, and Head of Prokopim of the Regional Secretariat Alfian.
