New Generators Operate, Selatpanjang Electricity Begins to Stabilize

MERANTI – ASWINNEWS.COM – PLN ULP Selatpanjang, Meranti Islands Regency, added 7 new generator units as an effort to cover the power shortage that has caused rolling blackouts in the Selatpanjang area and its surroundings lately.

Head of PLN ULP Selatpanjang, Dalie Priasmoro, Friday (3/14/2025) said that a total of 7 generator units had arrived. Where 3 units were mobilized to PLN on Jalan Yos Sudarso Selatpanjang and 4 more units to PLN Gogok, West Tebingtinggi District.

Dalie said that currently his party has finished installing and operating 3 generators at PLN Jalan Yos Sudarso. Meanwhile, 4 machines for PLN Gogok are still in the installation stage.

“According to previous estimates, since March 11 there have been no rolling blackouts in Selatpanjang and its surroundings. As of yesterday (3/13) the power availability was 12.2 Megawatts, and the peak load was 11.56 Megawatts. This means there is a power surplus of around 0.6 Megawatts,” said Dalie.

However, Dalie said that his party is still continuing to make improvements until all new machines can be fully operated.

He hopes that electricity in Selatpanjang and its surroundings can be stabilized soon and asked all parties to help and support the hard work of officers, especially in installing new machines.

In previous news, the Deputy Regent of the Meranti Islands, Muzamil Baharudin SM MM, conducted a review of the PLN ULP Selatpanjang in Gogok, Tebing Tinggi Barat District, Friday (3/14/2025).

During the visit, Deputy Regent Muzamil said that PLN would add new machine units to help supply electricity to the community.

“We want to know the conditions in the field directly, because the current blackout has become a public complaint,” he said.

At that time, PLN also targeted that the installation of new machines until they were connected to the network would take 5 to 7 days.

“Hopefully this will be a good situation for the people of Selatpanjang and its surroundings. The local government will continue to strive and ensure that the community’s electricity needs are met,” hoped Deputy Regent Muzamil.
