JOMBANG-ASWINEWS.COM – On Monday, March 10, 2025, at 01.00 WIB, a Sahur event was held with Mrs. Hj. Dr. (HC) Shinta Nuriyah Abdurrahman Wahid, M. Hum at the Pendopo of Jombang Regency. This activity was attended by around 500 participants from various levels of society, including the poor, marginalized groups, interfaith, minority communities, community leaders, officials, and local leaders.
This event aims to increase spirituality, social awareness, and strengthen ties between residents in the spirit of togetherness and tolerance. The series of activities for the 2025 Mobile Sahur featured interesting performances, such as musical performances from the Gudo Temple, Banjari, reading of National Poetry, cultural dance by Sanggar Banon Wilwatikta, and national dialogue by Mrs. Shinta Nuriyah Wahid in the middle of eating sahur together.
Through this event, GUSDURian Jombang hopes to revive Gus Dur’s spirit in building tolerance and unity in society, while strengthening ties in the spirit of togetherness.
In his speech, the Regent of Jombang, Mr. H Warsubi, S.H., M.Si, expressed his respect and gratitude to Bu Nyai Hj Shinta for her presence to greet the community with a spirit of nationalism and brotherhood. He emphasized the importance of maintaining and continuing the values of humanity taught by Islam, especially in efforts to build a just and fair society.
The Regent also invited all those present to pray for the late Gus Dur so that he would always be given goodness by Allah SWT and hoped that the spirit of togetherness that had been upheld by him could continue to be continued by everyone.
Nyai Hj. Shinta Nuriyah Abdurrahman Wahid, wife of the late 4th President of the Republic of Indonesia, KH Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur), has been carrying out the sahur keliling activity for 25 years. In the month of Ramadhan 1446 H, she is again holding a sahur with various elements of society.
On that occasion, Nyai Shinta explained three reasons for choosing to have sahur keliling with the poor:
1. To understand the meaning and essence of life, and how the poor struggle to maintain life and fast well.
2. Inviting Muslims to pray in the third part of the night, using sahur time as the best moment to get closer to God.
3. Eliminating reasons for people not to fast, with the hope that no one will miss sahur or fall asleep.
Nyai Shinta also emphasized that fasting should be revolutionary, able to change a person’s attitude, body, and soul for the better. This sahur keliling activity reflects Nyai Shinta Nuriyah’s commitment to strengthening national unity through an inclusive approach and togetherness across groups.
