Civilian-Military Coordination is Very Important in Humanitarian Operations in Lebanon
SENTUL,BOGOR-ASWINNEWS.COM- To improve understanding of the situation, rules, procedures, and humanitarian principles that must be upheld when carrying out world peace missions, Participants of the TNI Garuda Contingent (Konga) United Interim Force In Lebanon (UNIFIL) Pre-Assignment Task Force (Satgas) TA 2025 received a briefing from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UN OCHA) on Humanitarian actors and context in Lebanon. The activity took place at the TNI PMPP Sentul Auditorium, Bogor on Wednesday (05/03/2025).
UN OCHA is a United Nations (UN) office established in December 1991 by General Assembly Resolution No. 46/182 with the task of coordinating humanitarian assistance in emergencies and natural disasters. In this activity, the speaker from UN OCHA was the Humanitarian Affairs Analyst UN OCHA Indonesia Mr. Iwan Mindaraga Rahardja.
The speaker from UN OCHA explained about the Core Functions of UN OCHA including Coordination in helping the government mobilize international aid during disasters, ensuring humanitarian needs are addressed globally, providing data for better decision-making, allocating resources for humanitarian crises and developing guidelines and best practices in humanitarian response. Then also explained related to the Principles of Humanity, UN Leadership in Lebanon (UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon, UNIFIL Head Of Mission and Force Commander and UN Deputy Special Coordinator, Resident Coordinator, Humanitarian Coordinator), as well as the Humanitarian Focus implemented by UN OCHA and UNIFIL in humanitarian operations in Lebanon as well as coordination between civilian and military actors in responding to the crisis.
