Riau Police Promote Food Security Through Sustainable Food Yard Program

PEKANBARU –ASWINNEWS.COM – The Riau Regional Police (Polda) demonstrated its commitment to supporting food security by simultaneously participating in the launching of the Sustainable Food Yard (P2L) program, Monday (24/2/2025). This event was held virtually via Zoom Meeting and centered on Jalan Fastabiqul Khairat, Labuh Baru Barat Village, Payung Sekaki District, Pekanbaru City.

Riau Police Chief Inspector General Pol Mohammad Iqbal was present in person at the event along with the Chairperson of the Riau Regional Bhayangkari, Nindia Iqbal, Deputy Chief of Police Brigadier General Pol Adrianto Jossy Kusumo, the main officials of the Riau Police, and Bhayangkari administrators. Before attending the virtual session, the group carried out real actions by spreading catfish and tilapia seeds, and harvesting hydroponic vegetables on the Bhayangkari fostered land.

“This program is a concrete step to strengthen food security while improving community welfare through productive use of yards,” said Inspector General of Police Mohammad Iqbal. He added that the use of vacant land not only supports family food needs but can also be an inspiring example for the surrounding community.

The P2L program is an idea of ​​the Chief of Police which aims to improve the welfare of Polri members and help the community. In addition, this activity encourages the use of land around offices and home environments to produce healthy and nutritious food.

Through this initiative, it is hoped that the community can be more independent in meeting family food needs. This step is also an encouragement to create sustainable food security amidst today’s global challenges.
