DPRD Asks North Maluku Provincial Government to Anticipate Food Needs Ahead of Ramadan

SOFIFI-MALUT-ASWINNEWS.COM- The Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD) of North Maluku Province asked the provincial government to continue to monitor the development of basic food stocks and prices, ahead of the month of Ramadan.

This was said by Muksin Amrin, Member of the North Maluku Provincial DPRD, to aswinnews.com, Monday, February 24, 2025.

According to him, the North Maluku Provincial Government must take concrete steps to ensure the availability and stability of food prices in the market.

“It has become a habit every fasting month, the spike in basic food prices is difficult to control, caused by soaring consumer needs, while not being accompanied by the availability of stock,” he continued.

Muksin continued, this resulted in price spikes that were sometimes unreasonable in the market, therefore the Provincial Government needs to intensively supervise and monitor the availability of basic necessities, which can meet the needs of the month of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr later.

“The government’s task must really ensure that the price of basic necessities can be reached by the lower and middle classes, there should be no people who have difficulty eating due to expensive basic necessities, because that is an important task for the government, to ensure that people do not starve in the middle,” he concluded.
