The absence of a number of regional heads from the PDI Perjuangan (PDIP) from the retreat at the Military Academy (Akmil) Magelang on February 21, 2025 was due to direct instructions from the General Chairperson of PDIP, Megawati Soekarnoputri. Through a letter numbered 7294/IN/DPP/II/2025 issued on February 20, 2025, Megawati asked PDIP cadres who serve as regional heads to postpone their departure for the retreat.
This instruction is related to the detention of PDIP Secretary General, Hasto Kristiyanto, by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). In the letter, Megawati emphasized the importance of maintaining active communication amidst the situation faced by the party.
On the other hand, President Prabowo Subianto expected all regional heads to attend the retreat to align the vision and mission between the central and regional governments. However, due to instructions from party leaders, several regional heads from PDIP chose to comply with the directive and did not attend the retreat in Magelang.
Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Bima Arya, reported that of the 481 regional heads invited, 450 attended the retreat. A total of 47 regional heads did not provide news, while 6 others requested permission. Bima Arya emphasized that for regional heads who were absent without a clear reason, they were required to attend the retreat in the next wave.
Thus, the absence of regional heads from PDIP at the retreat in Magelang was mainly due to internal party instructions asking them to postpone their attendance, in connection with a legal situation involving one of the party’s top officials.
