Karang Taruna Kelapapati Village Successfully Holds Open Gasing Piring Tournament
BENGKALIS – ASWINNEWS.COM – The Kelapapati Village Government highly appreciates the implementation of the Open Gasing Piring Tournament held by Karang Taruna Kelapapati Village on Friday (21/2/2025) afternoon. This tournament aims to strengthen community ties while preserving the traditional gasing sport which is part of the local culture. The activity took place lively at the gasing field on Jalan Kelapapati Darat, Kelapapati Village, Bengkalis District, Bengkalis Regency, Riau Province.
The Head of Karang Taruna Kelapapati Village who is also the Head of the Organizing Committee, Asmidan, explained that this tournament was held to welcome the holy month of Ramadan 1447 H. “We are grateful for the support of all parties, especially the Kelapapati Village Government which fully supports the implementation of this activity. This tournament is a forum for friendship and cultural preservation that is greatly needed by the community,” said Asmidan.
Representing the Kelapapati Village Government, BPD Chairman Syafruddin, S.P., expressed his appreciation and support for the Karang Taruna initiative. “We are very proud of Karang Taruna of Kelapapati Village who has initiated a positive activity like this. The spinning top game is a cultural heritage that must be maintained and preserved so that it is not lost in the midst of the development of the times. Hopefully this tournament can become a routine agenda that strengthens brotherhood in the community,” he said.
In addition to village officials, this event was also attended by the Bengkalis Sub-district Head Taufik Hidayat, S.STP., MPA., elected DPRD member from the Democrat Faction Bobi Kurniawan, Babinsa, Bhabinkamtibmas, hamlet heads, RT/RW, and the Kelapapati community and its surroundings who also enlivened the event.
The tournament ended with a group photo session attended by all invited guests, committees, and participants. The high enthusiasm from the community is proof that traditional games such as spinning tops still have a place in the hearts of residents. It is hoped that this activity can continue to maintain local cultural values.
