Congkak Match Simulation in Muntai Village: Initial Steps to Preserve Malay Culture
Bengkalis – ASWINNEWS.COM – Muntai Village, Bantan District, Bengkalis Regency, Riau Province, witnessed history by holding a congkak match simulation at the Datuk Laksamana Raja History Gallery at Sea on Saturday, February 15, 2025. This event was organized by the Muntai Village Government in collaboration with the Junjungan Bengkalis State Sharia Institute (ISNJ), and supported by a member of the Bengkalis DPRD, Dr. Haji Muhammad Isa, M.A.
The simulation, which carries the traditional Malay game, aims to preserve congkak as part of the nation’s cultural heritage. This event was attended by the Head of Muntai Village, Muhammad Nurin, and all village officials. Their presence showed their full support for the preservation of local culture. Not only that, this event was also enthusiastically welcomed by the local community and participants who were very enthusiastic in participating in the match.
The Chancellor of ISNJ Bengkalis, Dr. Kholijah, M.Sy, was also present and provided his support for this activity. In his speech, Dr. H. Muhammad Isa said “this congkak game is very important to preserve. This time we are only doing a simulation or experiment, but God willing in the near future we will continue it to the inter-village competition and hope to reach the international level.”
“The congkak game, which has long been known as a Malay cultural heritage, has again received attention. This event is the first step towards further development, not only as entertainment, but also as a medium for preserving culture,” he added.
And hopefully through this initiative, the congklak game will not only become part of history, but will also continue to develop and be known more widely, to the world,” he hoped.
Muhammad Isa also hopes that this event can be a driving force for the community to preserve various traditional games and reintroduce invaluable cultural heritage. Support from various parties, including the DPC ASWIN BENGKALIS REGENCY, is also highly expected so that similar events can continue to be held and develop in the future.
