Corn Planting of One Million Hectares Phase II on PETI Mining Reclamation Land
MADINA-ASWINNEWS.COM- The simultaneous corn planting of one million hectares was planted in phase II on the second phase of reclamation land on the former PETI (Illegal Gold Mining) land in Jambur Tarutung, Kotanopan District, Mandailing Natal Regency, carried out with continued corn planting on Friday (2/14/2025).
Present at this event were the Mandailing Natal Police Chief, AKBP Arie Sofandi Paloh, elements of the Kotanopan Muspika representing the Police Chief, Kotanopan Village Head, BPP Agriculture Service, Sub-district Head, Koramil, Education Service Coordinator, KUA representatives, STAIM students, community leaders, members of the Saroha Farmers Group and the private sector as donors implementing the activity.
Mara Ginda Hakim as the Chairperson of the Saroha Farmers Group asked for prayers and support so that this reclamation could continue.
Arya Benni Daulay, Head of BPP (Agricultural Extension Center) Kotanopan said that towards national food security, the Saroha Farmers Group has targeted 5 hectares of land in the Saba Arambir area, Jambur Tarutung Village, Kotanopan District.
“There are many challenges faced by members of the farmer group in this reclamation. Moreover, the location is undulating, there are many former excavations and mounds of sand and stone. A helping hand from the private sector is really needed, because to make this location flat again and able to be planted, heavy equipment is needed. Of course this requires a lot of money,” he said.
According to Arya Benni, this reclamation program would not have been realized without the support of all parties. Especially the Kotanopan Police Chief AKP Parsaulian Ritonga.
“We are very grateful for his efforts so that this activity can be carried out. The Kotanopan Police Chief is a pioneer in this reclamation effort and is able to collaborate with all parties so that this reclamation activity can be carried out properly,” he said.
Meanwhile, AKBP Arie Sofandi Paloh expressed his gratitude to all parties involved so that this activity was carried out well.
“This proves that Kotanopan residents still care about the environment. And this refutes the assumption of several parties that this land can no longer be planted,” he said.
“We all know that the beginning of this mining polemic began with the demands of the residents’ needs. But I am very grateful for the participation of all parties, this location can gradually be restored to become productive land. Currently, we can see for ourselves that this land has been planted with corn, meaning that this land is starting to be productive again,” added the Police Chief.
I also hope that fellow media colleagues will also participate in publicizing this location to be used as a tourist location. Hopefully Kotanopan will be better in the future, becoming a beautiful Kotanopan, requested the Police Chief.
Kotanopan Police Chief AKP Parlaungan via mobile phone expressed his deepest gratitude to the private sector Mara Ginda who was willing to provide assistance for the implementation of this land reclamation. “We really appreciate the great participation from Mara Ginda,” he said.
This activity is our support for President Prabowo Subianto’s program in improving national food security. Indonesia is targeting planting one million hectares of corn. This is a collaboration between the Police, Ministry of Agriculture, GAPKI, Perhutani, Inhutani, private sector and farmer self-reliance.
