Directorate General of Regional Administration Strengthens Coordination with Malaysia, Smoother Border Mobility
JAKARTA-ASWINNEWS.COM- The Indonesian and Malaysian governments held a virtual meeting to discuss the follow-up to the RI-Malaysia Border Crossing Agreement (BCA) 2023 on Thursday (13/2/2025) which aims to strengthen cross-border cooperation between the two countries. This meeting was led by Dr. Drs. Amran, MT as Director of Regions, Urban, and State Borders, Directorate General of Regional Administration, Ministry of Home Affairs from the Indonesian side, and Dr. Hebat Hisham bin Mohd Yusoff, Secretary of the Immigration Affairs Division, Ministry of Home Affairs from the Malaysian side.
In this virtual meeting, the two countries discussed strategic issues related to entry/exit points in the Indonesia-Malaysia Border Area such as Sei Menggaris-Serudong, Sebatik-Tawau and Temajuk-Telok Melano which are also a follow-up to the results of the 39th KK/JKK Sosek Malindo Meeting in 2024. Both countries agreed for each party to conduct further studies and will be discussed at the next meeting.
The Indonesian government also conveyed the ratification process of the BCA RI-Malaysia 2023 which is currently in process and is targeted for completion in 2025, both countries hope that after the completion of the ratification process, the implementation of cross-border activity regulations in the Indonesia-Malaysia Border Area can run optimally.
Dr. Drs. Amran in this meeting encouraged the two countries to make the necessary efforts to strengthen cross-border cooperation in the border area including the operation of the agreed entry/exit points so that the economy in the Indonesia-Malaysia border area can increase and become a new center of economic growth.
