The Government Should Provide Subsidies to the People to Play a Role in Building a Successful Nation and State

The coordination of the Indonesian House of Representatives with the government regarding public aspirations regarding 3-kilogram LPG gas which is a basic need for the common people, said Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, has resulted in President Prabowo Subianto ordering the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia to reactivate the role of 3-kg LPG gas retailers by regulating retailers to become partial sub-base agents, said Sufmi Dasco Ahmad to Journalists, February 4, 2025.
In addition, the President asked for certainty so that retailers do not sell at high prices to the public.
The government’s plan to cut the distribution of 3-kg LPG not reaching retailers has caused chaos and panic among the people. Even in various regions and places there have been victims who died after being exhausted from queuing and others when heading to the queue because they were hit by vehicles with the melon gas cylinders they were carrying.
As a result of the condition of residents who have to queue directly to the depot, not only is it inconvenient, but people have to spend additional costs for transportation and for the retailers themselves it means losing their jobs to work as gas retailers which are a routine need for the community or food stall entrepreneurs for the common people.
In fact, the government admitted that there was no problem with the distribution of 3 kg LPG gas. But after mismanagement, the price of 3 kg LPG gas has actually become expensive, compared to the previous price.
The people’s dream that LPG gas for the poor can be subsidized actually adds to the economic burden for the people. Therefore, the voice of the people who echoed to get subsidies from the government actually turned into an additional burden that gave an economic burden to the people. Because what is ideal for the people is an attitude of siding with the people, even if they cannot provide subsidies for all the needs and basic needs of the people, but ideally it does not add to the heavy burden that is currently a big problem for the people due to the economic conditions that the government has not been able to overcome at this time. In fact, if the people’s economy can improve, at least it will not add to the burden on the government.
Therefore, pro-people economic policies must be realized through various legal means in accordance with the mandate of our constitution, namely the 1945 Constitution to eradicate poverty and ignorance that must be overcome, since the proclamation until today. Because only then to enter the Golden Indonesia era in 2045 must be better prepared now. Because the government cannot possibly enter the Golden Indonesia Era itself, without people who are physically and mentally ready.
Therefore, suggestions and proposals to provide subsidies to the people so that the economic movement can grow and people’s efforts to participate in building food self-sufficiency, energy self-sufficiency and self-sufficiency in various forms of other people’s businesses can be realized to make a real contribution to the development of the Indonesian nation and state to succeed in the future, ready to enter the Golden Indonesia Era in 2045.
