BENGKALIS-ASWINNEWS.COM – The 2025 Chinese New Year celebration in Bengkalis was lively thanks to the folk entertainment event held by the Hok Ann Kiong Temple. The event, which was attended by thousands of visitors from Bengkalis, the Meranti Islands, and foreign tourists, was enlivened by performances by international artists such as Wendy Woo and Chen Syue Fen, as well as Malaysian artists Kang Huei Yin, Lee Shen Cong, and Wenny Wong. Local artists such as Chai Jia Yi and Niken also amazed the audience with local culture on Sunday night, February 2 2025.
The Head of the Vihara, Herman Kasuma, hopes that this event will introduce Bengkalis culture to the international world and become a symbol of togetherness, and added that the closing of the event was marked by the release of firecrackers which added to the lively atmosphere at exactly 00.00
Before the peak of the celebration, around 10,000 lanterns decorate Bengkalis City, creating a typical Chinese New Year atmosphere. This celebration not only presents entertainment, but also strengthens unity amidst diversity, and introduces Bengkalis as a cultural tourism destination.
