“Pengepungan di Bukit Duri”, marks a new chapter in Joko Anwar’s film career after 20 years of work, carrying a genre that he has never touched before, namely drama-action. Starring Morgan Oey, Omara Esteqhlal, Hana Pitrashata Malasan, and a number of new faces in Indonesian cinema. This film shows a picture of what might happen in Indonesia in the near future if Indonesia does not improve itself from the nation’s problems including the closeness of young people to the culture of violence.
“This film is my biggest challenge during my career in film. Not only technically this film must show high quality because it collaborates with a legendary Hollywood film company that has high standards, but the story must reflect our country today,” said Joko Anwar.
This film will be an entertaining spectacle because it is packaged with a fresh genre and interesting storytelling with the support of talented players and a big Hollywood studio, but brings very important and relevant issues for more Indonesian people to know.
