Hoo Ann Kiong Temple, one of the oldest temples in the area, became the center of festivities. The chairman of the Hoo Ann Kiong Temple management expressed his gratitude for the community’s enthusiasm. “This year is very special because it’s not just devotees coming to pray but also members of the general public joining in the celebrations. This reflects the extraordinary unity and tolerance in Bengkalis,” he said.

The evening began with a prayer procession where devotees offered prayers for good fortune and prosperity in the coming year. One visitor, Roby, a Bengkalis resident, attended the event with his family. “I don’t celebrate Chinese New Year, but every year I come here to enjoy the atmosphere. My kids especially love seeing the lanterns,” he shared. Roby also wished a Happy Chinese New Year 2025 to those celebrating.

To ensure the event ran smoothly, security officers from Bengkalis Police were deployed. Their presence provided a sense of safety for the crowd gathered around the temple.
