Message from Rais Syuriyah of PCNU Jombang at the 102nd Anniversary of Nahdlatul Ulama
JOMBANG-ASWINNEWS.COM – The 102nd Anniversary of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) held at Masjid Agung Baitul Mukminin, Jombang, on Monday evening (January 27), was a solemn and meaningful event.
Themed “Working Together with the Ummah for a Prosperous Indonesia,” the celebration gathered thousands of NU members from various regions, reaffirming the spirit of unity and the struggle of Indonesia’s largest Islamic organization.
In his remarks, the Chairman of PCNU Jombang, KH Fahmi Amrullah Hadzik, highlighted the importance of unity in diversity.
“Jombang is the capital of NU. We must follow the example of our predecessors: unite and hold firmly to the rope of Allah, avoiding division,” he emphasized. He also expressed pride in being part of NU and Indonesia. Citing a survey, he noted that 60% of Indonesians identify as part of NU, underscoring the organization’s significant influence.
KH Fahmi urged NU members to engage in the organization with kindness and compassion, adhering to the principles of rahmatan lil ‘alamin. He also commended the committee for their excellent preparation, ensuring the event’s profound impact.
KH Abdul Hakim Mahfudz: NU, the Largest Islamic Organization in the World
The Chairman of PWNU East Java, KH Abdul Hakim Mahfudz, affirmed NU’s status as the largest Islamic organization in the world. Reflecting on its history, he explained that NU was established in 1926 to prevent the fragmentation of the Muslim community.
“In the past, Indonesian Muslims adhered to a single understanding, Ahlussunnah wal Jamaah. However, new ideologies emerged in 1912, prompting pesantren scholars to unite in preserving Islamic unity through Nahdlatul Ulama,” said KH Abdul Hakim.
He encouraged attendees to emulate KH Hasyim Asy’ari’s efforts, whose brilliant thoughts united Muslims, as documented in Al-Mawaidz.
KH Abdul Hakim also stressed the importance of turning differences into strengths, rather than sources of conflict.
KH Ahmad Hasan: Movement for a Meaningful Life
Beginning his speech, KH Ahmad Hasan expressed gratitude to all parties who contributed to the event’s success. He emphasized the significance of harakah (movement) in life, quoting KH Zulfa Mustofa:
“Man laa harakata lahu falaa agenda lahu. Wa man laa agenda lahu falaa rukyata lahu. Wa man laa rukyata lahu falaa hayaata lahu.” (Without movement, one has no agenda; without an agenda, one has no vision; without a vision, one has no existence.)
KH Ahmad Hasan outlined three major NU agendas: preserving religion (Riayatud Diin), safeguarding the nation (Riayatud Daulah), and protecting humanity (Riayatud Naas). According to him, these are the core elements of NU’s mission to benefit the ummah and the world.
Unity and Service to NU
This event served as a moment of reflection for all NU members. The profound messages from the speakers inspired attendees to continue serving with sincerity and dedication, strengthening NU’s role in upholding religion and contributing to the nation and humanity.
With the spirit of rahmatan lil ‘alamin, the 102nd Anniversary of NU in Jombang reaffirmed its position as a guardian of religion, the nation, and humanity. The messages delivered by the leaders serve as motivation for NU members to advance the legacy of their predecessors.
