JAKARTA-ASWINNEWS.COM – The Book Review of Ekskursi Arsitektur UI 2024 IBAN discusses the documentation produced by the Ekskursi Team from their expedition to the Iban tribe, packaged into a book that is evaluated based on its narrative flow, content, technical aspects, and the accuracy of the information. The book review event was held at the Emiria Soenassa Gallery, Taman Ismail Marzuki, Jakarta, on Friday (January 24) at 3:00 PM.
The book review featured discussions from speakers such as Ati Bachtiar and the Ekskursi IBAN Team, including Satrio Rafi Adirangga and Salvia Claresta Aurel, moderated by Nadia Fadilah. This discussion aimed to broaden perspectives and help accelerate the verification of the data obtained before the book could be published and distributed.
The book review discussed how the Iban people live in harmony with nature, their community, and architecture. The focus was on how architecture comes to be and how communities live within it.
Their architecture is shaped by customs, culture, and rituals, making the rumah panjai (longhouse) a central part of their life.
“The main goal of this book is to serve as a documentation and a record of our journey to tell the story of the Iban from an architectural perspective,” said Satrio Rafi.
